Claire had a pretty decent weekend other than being fussy because she was hungry. She enjoyed spending the weekend with her Aunt Julie and Aunt Amanda! I am sure they didn't spoil her one bit - wink wink!
Claire is getting just a small amount of formula now - just 14 mLs. She sucks that down in literally 10 seconds. Hopefully they will increase it more today.
Last night when I got to the hospital, the doctor came to talk to me about Claire's cysts. They did the ultrasound Friday and saw 2 new cysts. So they are going to draw labs today to check her liver function as well as do an MRI of her liver. Please pray that they don't have to sedate her for the MRI. We hope they can feed her and swaddle her really good so she will be still. I am sure she'll have to have her paci as well!
Hopefully we can sit down with the doctors and go over the xrays, ultrasounds, and MRI this week to see what they think.
I haven't talked to the nurse yet this morning to see how she is, but I plan to go up there soon. I was waiting since there may be ice on the road.

Happy Saturday
I had the wonderful opportunity to spend the day with Claire. When I got to the hospital this morning, she was a little fussy and very hungry. She is still on IV fluids and should start back on her feeds tomorrow. I was able to hold her for a couple hours this morning. Then the nurse decided to give her a bath. That was SO cool to watch...although Claire was not thrilled to be getting a bath. She smelled SOO good....you know that baby smell!?! We then got her dressed in an adorable onezie fleece Christmas outfit! Too Cute!! She laid down for a nap and slept pretty good. She slept so hard at some points in the day that she had a couple of Bradys.
After lunch I got to hold her again. She was fussy but I think she enjoyed being out of the crib and rocked. At the end of the day she had a little dirty diaper but they gave her a "chip" to help her go to the bathroom because she was straining a lot.
I heard the baby shower turned out very well and that Rebecca had a great time visiting with everyone.
Claire will spend the day with Aunt Amanda tomorrow. :)

Another little speed bump!
As Rebecca called last night to check on Claire, she heard some uneasy news once again. They found a small trace amount of blood in Claire’s stool. She said that is was a tiny spec, measuring 1mm x 3 mm. Even though the blood is such a small amount, they still had to take Claire off of all her feeds for 48 hours. They took an xray last night and it came back okay. They are taking some blood to do some lab work as well to make sure there is no infection or what not. They plan on taking another xray tomorrow sometime to check everything once again. They believe that the blood could be from a small tear on her skin or from a virus. They will probably keep her on the Elecare since it is a broken down formula and is the easiest formula on her stomach.
She is continuing to have the light bradys where her heart rate drops down to the 80-90’s but they are saying that is a normal heart rate for a baby reaching full term. Claire’s heart rate in the earlier bradys were reaching somewhere down in the 40’s. So as of right now, her light bradys are okay.
They did an ultrasound of her liver FINALLY today around 3 PM…Halleluiah!!! We don’t have the results back yet but we are eagerly waiting. Rebecca said she was really happy to hear that, even if they were doing it just for her peace of mind! They still don’t believe the liver has anything to do with the bloody stools but I guess they will hopefully verify.
Her two favorite nurses were checking on her today! They are always there to make Claire’s day so much better!! Please keep Claire in your prayers as once again we are trying to get over this little speed bump. Keep Rebecca and Trent also in your thoughts and prayers as they are both home this weekend away from their sweet little girl. Hopefully everyone will get a chance to stop by to see them this weekend at their house from 11-3. Email/call Rebecca or Trent to get directions to their house if needed!!

A stressful day
Claire started getting her 2 month vaccinations yesterday and they seem to be affecting her, or at least that's what the nurses and doctors are thinking. She seemed very tired and "blah" today to me. She was not interested in eating - we had to force her to eat and it could take 45 minutes for her to eat. She also had lots and lots of desats and bradys today. Of course this made me extremely nervous and worried. The doctors think that the side effects from the vaccinations are probably making her feel bad, thus all of the stuff going on today. I am praying the shots are what's causing her to feel and react this way.
Claire got to see her favorite resident doctor today. We just love her! And we hope she will have some of her favorite nurses again soon! Well, all of the nurses are great, but we do have a few special ones.
There was also a family there today that lost their 10 day old son. Please keep them in your prayers as well. We did not know them, but can not even imagine what they are going through.
So obviously Claire's issues will probably change her coming home plans a little. Our goal is still to have her home around Christmas, but we don't want to rush her home at all. She will let us all know when she is ready to come home.

Baby Shower........Sneak Peak at Nursery.........Thank You Party
Ok - well, in line with everything that has gone on these past 2 1/2 months, we are throwing together a spontaneous baby shower for Claire! We were supposed to have a baby shower on Oct. 1st, Oct. 2nd, and Oct. 16th. But with Claire's early arrival, we were unable to have any of them! So before she comes home (hopefully soon) we thought we needed to have something for her.
Because when Claire comes home, we will be on strict "lock down" as far as visitors go and as far as us going places. With it being the height of flu and cold season, we cannot risk spreading germs with Claire. So we figured we had to do something now if we were going to do anything at all!
So here's the plan - this Saturday, December 11th from 11 to 3, you are welcome to come to our home to visit, see Claire's nursery, or drop off a gift (if you had already purchased one for one of the showers). Or maybe you have already dropped your gift off, or your helped with the ham dinner or BLAST dinner, or you have helped in any other way including prayer - you are also welcome to stop by and get a bite to eat and visit!
If you need directions to our house, please email me at rebeccascott333@yahoo.com or call Anita at 252-224-9121. Also, if you read this and plan to come, please let one of us know too if possible so we can plan on food. It's a floating shower/party so feel free to drop by any time between 11 and 3.

Baby Massage
Claire had a spa day today! I was able to learn the art of baby massage from the physical therapist to use on Claire. She is always so tense and stressed due to being uncomfortable from the cyst. Her arms and legs are either pulled really tightly in or stretched completely out. She doesn't have many times that she's truly relaxed.
The PT thought baby massage might work for Claire so we tried it today. She wasn't sure at first about it, but then she loved it! We just worked on her legs and feet today. I have never seen her legs as relaxed as they were. It was amazing. The PT said babies generally don't like the arm massage as much, so I am sure it will be a different story tomorrow when we try that. But I learned something new today that I think will help Claire relax.

She did good with the 11 am feed with me, but the nurse said she was kind of picky with the 3 pm feed. They said if all goes well and she does good on her feeds with no bloody stools, that Claire could possibly go home early next week. I am not getting my hopes up yet!
I may try to come home this weekend and we MAY try to have a spur of the moment shower. I will post details if that seems like it's going to happen. We have to see if we can work out the details or not.
Sorry I haven't posted many pictures lately. I haven't had anyone with me reminding me to take pictures or to actually take pictures while we do things! Claire is probably happy that she hasn't had the camera in her face a lot lately, but we are missing out on some good shots! :)
I left the hospital a little early today and I am already missing Claire like crazy. I am so ready for us to be together as our family.

Update
Claire had a pretty good day yesterday. Still no blood in her stools thank God. She is just eating and sleeping. She was 6 lbs 2.5 oz on Monday night, but lost about 50 grams last night. So she's still a little over 6 lbs. She gets lots of compliments on her many "fashionable" outfits each day!
Each time I fed her yesterday and picked her up to burp her, she would have a small brady. When the nurses fed her, she did fine! I think she's trying to tell me something.... Just not sure what it is yet! :) She is staying more alert every day.
Clarie was moved back to ICN yesterday - nothing to do with her condition. They are trying to organize the babies according to what team they are on. Claire is on a doctor team (the ones who follow her are doctors). Some other babies are on nurse practitioner teams. So they are putting all doctor team babies in one section of the ICN and the NP babies in the TCN. We will see how this works!
The nurse told me to bring in Claire's car seat today so tonight she can try the car seat test. We will see how that goes! Once she eats, the nurse will put her in the seat and leave her in there until her next feed time to see if she can tolerate riding that long without bradys or desats, etc. Keep your fingers crossed! She has to pass this test to be able to come home.
